VARIOUS | SONGS THAT SHAPED THE CRAMPS

The?Cramps - inventors of "Psychobilly" - were, in essence, an anarchic, turbocharged, oldies tribute act. Memorably fronted by singer Lux Interior and guitarist Poison Ivy Rorschach,?they represented the point at which Hasil Adkins, The Stray Cats, Showaddywaddy, Johnny Cash & June Carter, Atlas Comics and Mad Magazine may have collided, heads-on, in a 1950s Roger Corman B-movie. Deranged live performers, they were once described as "Rockabilly on steroids" (probably in either NME or Sounds), which fitted them perfectly. This compilation presents thirty-four weird, wonderful and wildly out-there greasy Rockabilly and R&R 45s, records which were major contributors to their musical journey. The Cramps cut straight revivals of many of these sides or featured them in their live sets, while they stole elements of others, incorporating them into new, original songs.
